The North Coast

The  North Coast is guaranteed to have something for everyone. Being located in the heart of the old Ballito center we are perfectly situated for all activities.  We are surrounded by (within a couple of minutes walking distance) to beauty salons, restaurants, night clubs and a grocery store.  We really have it all on our door step. The beaches on the North Coast are a delight for all – swimmers, surfers, scuba-divers, snorkelers, kite-boarders and fishermen are all catered for on the North Coast.

Salmon Bay

Salmon Bay

Located in Ballito and close to Zimbali Coastal Estate is a popular surfing spot and home to the Ballito Inflatable Boat Clubhouse.

Clark Bay

Close to restaurants and a favorite swimming spot, Clark Bay is walking distance to the lagoon in Ballito.

Willard Beach

Known as the “Pearl” of the North Coast, is the venue for the Ballito Pro surfing event held each year in July. A 2.5 km beach promenade, makes a great walking spot and the Ballito Lifeguard Centre is located at this beach.

Thompson’s Bay

Home to a natural rock formation known as “the hole in the wall” it also boasts the Olympic-sized tidal pool “Charlie’s Pool”

Shaka’s Rock

has spectacular views off the cliffs and many shallow tidal pools encrusted with coral and teaming with ocean life.

Salt Rock

a Popular swimming beach, also has a man-made tidal pool and is walking distance to the Salt Rock Hotel.

Christmas Bay

While it is not a swimming beach, Christmas Bay has splendid ocean views that make it the perfect spot for a romantic walk or hike. The wreck of the Phoenix can be viewed as you travel towards Salt Rock.

Tinley Manor

The quaint hideaway beach has been a well-kept secret fishing spot for years. Spearfishing, scuba-diving and snorkeling are also favorite pastimes as this beach.

Blythedale Beach

Offers peaceful fishing, swimming and surfing.

Zinkwazi Beach

Get back to nature at Zinkwazi. The beach offers a natural 7 km lagoon that is perfect for canoeing as well as an indigenous forest. Jet-skiers, paddlers and bird watchers are keen visitors to Zinkwazi.

Try out the Eco-trail from Zinkwazi Lagoon Lodge: follow the 60 km John Ross Trail or paddle the lagoon.

The Glen Shaka Trail on the Glenariff Sugar Farm in Shaka Skraal offers an experience through an indigenous coastal forest. A firm favorite with birders.

Rain Farm Game Lodge

Inland from Ballito, offers game drives allowing visitors the opportunity to spot zebra, giraffe, antelope and other wildlife.

What  better  way  to  view  the  ocean  than  with  a  microlight! Ballito  Microlight School  and  Microlight  Flights  operate  throughout  the year  (weather  permitting) and definitely offer a once in a lifetime experience.Keen  on  a  horseback  beach  ride  or  through  the  undulating  sugarcane  fields?

Holla  Trails

at  Ballito  offers  a  series  of  well  maintained  mountain  biking  trails among the farmlands. Mountain bikers must have a Holla  Trails  permit  in  order  to  take  advantage  of  these  great  trails.  Bikes  and helmets are available for hire.

HAVOC  Bike  Park

It offers  both  BMX  and mountain biking tracks. Hiring facilities are also available

Sugar Rush Adventures

Are you looking for fun things to do in Ballito?

Sugar Rush Park is just the place. Our goal is to promote a healthy lifestyle for the whole family, by encouraging fun outdoor activities like riding and running, or just plain jungle gym climbing.

Lucky Linton Gold Mine

The site of a genuine gold mine that dates back to the 1880’s. The venue has a small petting zoo and a well-stocked bass fishing dam. Try out the “scratch patch” to search for hidden gems.

Tidal Tao – this has become a popular activity on the North Coast. Tidal Tao offers a two-hour beginner’s safari. The trip includes exploring tidal and rock pools as well as rock formations.

The Litchi Orchard

Already a firm favorite with both the locals and visitors, the Litchi Orchard at Salt Rock has a market held every second Saturday of the month and a night market (with a live music ensemble) every last Friday of the month. Delicious food stalls, farm-fresh produce, antiques and homemade jewelry are some of the offerings at the markets.

Strawberry Farm

Strawberry Farm – Cappenary Estates is a short distance inland from Ballito and sells fresh or frozen strawberries to the public. Why not make a day of it? Bring a picnic or enjoy the offerings from the local eatery.

Reptile ParkCrocodile Creek, located mid-way between Ballito and Tongaat is an authentic reptilian centre with crocodiles, alligators, snakes, tortoises and more.

Ndlondlo Reptile Park – offers guided tours and a real hands-on demonstration for visitors, allowing them to interactive with the creatures.

Animal Farm

Animal Farm

Flag Animal Farm is great entertainment for families. Children can enjoy pony rides and feed the many farm animals – chickens, ducks, geese, rabbits, cows, goats, sheep, and pigs. Milking of the cows takes place daily at 12h00 and 15h00.

Burnedale Center – offers a small petting zoo and restaurant. Visitors also have the opportunity to enjoy the pottery shop.
